Chloe Joins Downton Abbey

One of my favorite shows on television, has been the on going British Drama “Downton Abbey”. The series caught my interest based upon the story’s English countryside setting of an old manor estate known as Downton Abbey (in real life it's the Highclere Castle in Hampshire). The show not only features unique architecture, but it wrapped its fictional storyline and characters to the early 1900s. I’m a history buff, and even though this drama borrows quite heavily from modern dialogue, the costumes, and the authentic scenery is fascinating to watch. No one does period detail like British television.

I have to say that my favorite scenes are the pheasant hunts where gun dogs, including spaniels, are shown fetching the prey once the bird is shot out of the air by the Earl and his guests. I can only imagine that Chloe having her lineage from the sporting breeds, must dream of being on these aristocratic outings. Chloe’s sharp sense of smell, her speed, agility, and grace of chasing down birds in our backyard, and on the trails are only flashes of how she would perform if given the opportunity.

So while there isn’t an English countryside nearby, and I’m not a bird hunter or an aristocrat, the best I can do for Chloe is to have her picture taken, or should I say created with the stars of Downton Abbey,  …and yes, that’s Chloe sitting at the foot of the Earl of Grantham, the Lord of the Manor.
