An Unusual Bird House

6.09.2013

Four baby birds that are living on our front door.

Cocker Spaniels by nature are born to hunt birds, but what’s a dog suppose to do when those birds are living just out of reach on your front door? Well that’s Chloe’s predicament when we discovered that a mother bird decided to hatch her four new babies in the wreath that hangs on the front door of our house. As a matter of fact, that’s the same door that Chloe and I go through during our morning walk each day.

I’ve been aware of the birds for the past two weeks, including their noticeable chirping as they wait for food from the mother. Chloe however hasn’t seemed to take notice of the baby birds, and proceeds out the door in her normal fashion, and fortunately for us the birds haven’t tried to enter the house as they enjoy a free ride as the door swings open. Now, judging from their size in the photograph, they should be just about ready to fly off to their new home.
