Happy 15th Birthday!

10.19.2026

Happy 15th Birthday, Chloe! Fifteen years ago, a little ball of sable-colored fluff traveled from a kennel in Portales, New Mexico, to her forever home in Albuquerque. No dog has ever made a bigger entrance into anyone's heart.

From the start, everyone said the same thing: "She looks just like Lady from Lady and the Tramp!" And it was true. Those soulful brown eyes, long, silky ears, and a gentle, dignified gaze made you a perfect match. If Disney ever needed a real-life stand-in, Chloe, your agent should have been ready for calls. Of course, being "ladylike" only went so far.

As a puppy, you found pure joy in the zoomies, racing around the yard like a cocker-shaped tornado, your ears flying behind you like a superhero's cape. The neighbors probably wondered whether a small golden comet had landed in Albuquerque. It turns out one had.

Then there's your relationship with food, which I'd describe as "aspirational." Chloe, your tummy has never truly been full, not even once in fifteen years. You could finish dinner and still look at the refrigerator with the longing of a Victorian orphan in a novel. That brings us to your career as a clever businesswoman. You mastered the trade: catch a bug or lizard, bring it to the doorstep, and wait for your treat. A bug for a biscuit. A lizard for a liver snack. Somewhere, a very confused insect community never figured out why their numbers kept feeding your treat stash.

Your daily walks into the high-desert foothills became sacred rituals — just you, me, the sagebrush, and the endless New Mexico sky. You'd trot those trails like you owned them, pausing to sniff every interesting message left by local wildlife, always keeping one eye on your favorite person. Because that's the thing about you, Chloe: while other dogs might want to romp with the pack at the park, you always knew what you wanted. Humans. Their laps, their hands, their undivided attention. You are, and always have been, a people dog with a strong preference for ‘your’ people.

And oh, the grooming sessions. Countless trips to keep those famous Lady ears flowing and that coat red-carpet ready. You've probably spent more time in the groomer's chair than most celebrities do on actual red carpets — and you've carried yourself with the same star quality every time. Fifteen years. That's more than 5,000 days of wagging tails, soft head tilts, gentle snores, and unconditional love.

You've been there through every season of life — the celebrations, the hard days, and the ordinary Tuesdays you somehow made special just by being there. Dogs like you don't just live in a house, Chloe. You are the home.

So today, we celebrate you: the Lady of Portales turned Albuquerque girl, the Southwest's fastest zoomie champion, the world's most adorable extortionist, the foothills' favorite hiker, and the best girl any family could hope for. Happy 15th birthday, sweet Chloe. May your tummy finally feel full today, your treats be plentiful, your naps warm, and your humans' hands always busy petting those silky ears.

Here's to you, Lady Chloe. Love Always!
