Katie Up and Down the Hall

Reading about Katie reminded me of Chloe.

It's been a while since I've read a book from cover to cover. I use to be an avid reader, but with a busy schedule most of my reading is accomplished on much shorter pieces of text. That changed however during this week’s business trip that left me with several hours to fill while sitting on a plane. To deal with the void I took along my Kindle with Glenn Plaskin's bestseller "Katie Up and Down the Hall" a story that if you're a dog enthusiast, I know you will enjoy.

Glenn's style of writing is easy going with a humorous touch as he describes the chronicles of his beloved Cocker Spaniel Katie. It's also a heartfelt story as Glenn weaves his life, Katie's life, and the friendships they incur from their apartment building in Battery Park City, a picturesque enclave at the southern tip of Manhattan.  As I read the book, I couldn't help but take notice of the similarities between Katie and Chloe. From her diminutive stature at birth, to her mischievous nature and loving personality, Katie was so much like Chloe.

Glenn's writing reminded me of how often we don't grasp the true meaning of what it's like to have a dog share our life's story. We only have them for a short period on this earth, but even in that brief moment of time they endeavor to help us cope with the everyday stresses of living. That's why doing something as simple as going for a walk with Chloe is truly the best part of my day.

The book is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other leading bookstores in hardcopy, paperback and e-book formats. Thanks again to author Glenn Plaskin for the use of the Katie book cover image. You’ll also like to read Glenn’s blog at Katiebook.com.
