If you're an avid watcher of cable television’s Science Channel, you may
have remembered a documentary series called “The Meteorite Men”. The show ran from
2009 to 2011 as Steve Arnold and Geoffrey Notkin hunted for meteorites around the
globe for both profit and scientific discovery. But did you know this reality
show also created a modern day industry? Today, there are thousands of amateur
meteorite seekers that comb the world in search of rocks from outer space that
can be resold on the market.
Maybe one day Chloe and I will cash in on this large grey rock we dubbed “The Meteor” that sits just outside our park entrance. Chloe not only has a natural instinct for tracking rabbits and birds, she also displays a unique talent in hunting meteorites.
