Last Walk for Calendar 2012

As tomorrow rings in the new-year, our
morning walk today would be the last for calendar 2012. A surprised overnight light covering of high desert snow greeted us, along with a temperature that was
hovering in the middle twenties. Outfitting Chloe with her purple fleece, and a
few dog treats in my pocket, we headed out the door at around 10 am. Our late
departure allowed us to miss some falling snow in addition to even colder
temperatures measuring in the single digits.
In a no nonsense approach, Chloe took the snowy conditions in
stride, constantly sniffing the ground as we made our way along the mostly wet sidewalks.
Once we reached the park we took notice of someone’s unusual attempt at down
hill sledding. I say unusual, because the snow was not that thick, and the park
is certainly not that hilly.
