Border Patrol

One of the primal instincts of the canine breed is their need to go on border patrol. Our small piece of urban landscape is fenced in on three sides by a concrete block wall, which is a very common practice for neighbor privacy in the southwest.
Each time we let Chloe outside, she immediately walks the perimeter of the backyard several times over. She starts by carefully balancing her walk along the top edge of the railroad ties, followed by an in and out routine among the rose bushes, and then over to the outside gate.
I always complement our American Cocker Spaniel girl who has proven to be quite a valuable watchdog that enjoys protecting her home turf. In a backdrop of falling leaves, these images capture Chloe as she patrols the border on this Friday in November.
