Rules of the House (Regarding the Dog)

10.04.2014

Upon hearing the 'Rules of the House', Chloe rolls over laughing.

I happened to catch these Rules of the House (Regarding the Dog) the other day, and couldn’t help but smile, especially since I’m often a poor enforcer when it comes to disciplining Chloe with such trappings.

You may remember, The Cocker Spaniel Property Laws, which covers what a cocker can declare ownership to. After reading those laws, you’ll no doubt walk away shaking your head, since basically this breed of dog can declare just about anything as their property.  Now, I haven’t heard if cocker spaniels have actually tested these exclusive laws in the courtroom, and it’s probably better that we don’t find out, especially if we, as their masters happen to loose the case!

The Rules of the House should return some authority back to the master, but then again maybe not, especially after you read them. Upon reciting these rules to Chloe, she immediately rolled over and started laughing (see the photograph). I mean, all she has to do is flutter her long eye lashes, or give me that cute spaniel head tilt, and we all know who usually gets the upper hand in our household!

RULES OF THE HOUSE, Regarding the Dog

RULE 1 - The dog is only allowed in certain rooms.
…OK, the dog is allowed in all rooms, but has to stay off the furniture.

RULE 2 - The dog can get on the old furniture only.
…Fine, the dog is allowed on all the furniture, but is not allowed to sleep on the bed.

RULE 3 - OK, the dog is allowed on the bed, but only by invitation.
…The dog can sleep on the bed whenever they want, but only at the foot.

RULE 4 - The dog can sleep anywhere on the bed, but not on the pillow.
…Fine, the dog can sleep on the pillow!
